Gathering your birth team is essential when planning for your ideal birth.  Once you understand a doula’s role you will better understand the types of questions to ask her.  

Here are my top 10 most asked questions as a doula:

1. How comfortable are you with home/hospital/birthing center births? 
2. How many births have you attended? 
3. What has been your most memorable birth experience?
4. What is one thing you learned from your last birth? 
5. How flexible are you if and when plans need to change?

7. What is your love language? Or How do you best receive love and appreciation? 
8. If you could give me one piece of advice for my labor, delivery, and postpartum, what would it be? 
9. What made you want to become a doula? What did you do before you were a doula?
10. What was your personal birth experience?  Did you hire a doula? 

As much as your momma brain will want all the details to every question, it’s more important to listen to your heart and gut while asking the questions.  I want every client to feel so comfortable the first time we meet.  I want to feel like your sister, best friend or mother.  I want you to share your biggest fears and your best jokes.  I don’t just want to serve you as a client I want us to be best friends before we are done.  

I can honestly say that with every birth I have attended, I have felt this way with each of my clients.  I can’t wait to see them again after they are home, and I can’t wait to get a little snuggle with their newborn too.
